Required before Saturday
Five small steps. Done before you arrive.
Please complete these ahead of time — most people finish in 30–45 minutes, and nothing here can break your laptop. We start building at 3 PM and won't have time to set up from scratch in the room.
New to some of this? That's completely fine. Go at your own speed and check things off as you go. If a step won't budge, reach out ahead of time or arrive a few minutes early — so you're ready to build when we begin, not starting from zero.

Your challenge: a useful opportunity briefing for a field you care about. We'll build a small working version first, together.

Choose a field. Bring a few articles, job posts, or company notes. Help your bot turn that into a clear next step.

Start with real material you bring. Your bot begins as a simple chat page over Hermes. Paste in your own text first. Live search and scheduled briefings are stretch goals you can grow into — Hermes supports them, but they're not the starter.

Open your hermes-bot folder in OpenChamber and ask
it to explain the project before changing anything.

Read this project and explain how a message travels from the browser, through the server, to my local Hermes agent and back. Point out where the bot's personality lives. Don't change any files yet.Make one useful change.
Add inputs for your field and source material. Keep this first version small enough to test quickly.

Produce a brief with companies, opportunities, people, and one next action.
Use only the material I provide. Link sources only when I include their URLs. Say when information is missing; don't invent jobs, people, dates, or citations.
Keep the API key on the server. Propose a small plan first, then help me implement and test it.Make it work. Then make it better.
Restart the server after backend changes, refresh the browser, and try a real example.
Feeling good? Try one stretch goal — conversation memory, saving a brief, or live retrieval with sources. Pick one, not all three.

We'll demo OpenChamber, but Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or Antigravity are all welcome. Some tools need their own access or subscription — a shared OpenAI key won't automatically unlock every one.
